Based at the UNEP headquarters in Nairobi, Janene provides technical assistance and support to national governments and local authorities in the development and implementation of sustainable urban mobility policies and strategies. Her work is focused on the environmental, road safety and accessibility benefits of investing in walking, cycling, integrated urban mobility and digital solutions. Previously, she worked as a project manager at the UH-Habitat.
Janene has managed projects mostly in the Global South centered on the needs of vulnerable groups and their relationship with the implementation of low carbon transport strategies. She is co-chair of the Africa Network for Walking and Cycling working group on Government Support and Financing and is an internationally accredited mediator (CEDR). She holds an LL.M with a specialization in Sustainable Development from the University of Milan and a Bachelors of Law from the University of Pretoria.
